Nhow Hotel – Marseille

Opened in 2019 and designed by a team of international architects and designers, the Nhow Hotel opts for ambiences which are bold, colourful and quirky.
Matière Grise furniture can be found from the pool to the bar, in the rooms, on the terraces and in the lobby, with the Zef, Take, Ankara, Galet, Notus and Kona collections incorporated into the decor.
The furniture arranged outside is made of stainless steel or aluminum for maximum resistance to the sea spray. In the rooms and indoors, the classic steel version has been preferred. Some sizes, not in the collection, are customised to best meet the modular requirements of certain areas.

The colours of the Zef coffee tables around the pool are alternated to great effect. Due to the seaside location, here they have been made in stainless steel to withstand the sea spray.

The Take bar chairs, with their very useful shelf, have been made in aluminium so they can be set out on the terrace.

The mixed area, between the bar and the restaurant, is a riot of colour. The bright yellow Ankara lounge table blends into its surroundings, like a chameleon.

8/9

In the rooms and on the private terraces, we find Matière Grise furniture in small touches: here, the Galet, Kona and Zef tables and the Take chairs are also part of the decor. They are both practical and resistant, both to marine conditions and to hotel use.

Cinema Batignolles – Paris

The Paris cinema Les 7 Batignolles has been redesigned by the interior architect Ana Moussinet. She has converted this building into a cultural and sociable space, like the great hotels. The Ankara collection, designed by Constance Guisset, was an obvious choice when it came to furniture. Indeed, the middling height of the lounge tables is very much in keeping with the convivial style desired by the architect.

In this cultural venue, the dimensions are showcased by the round and square Ankara tables and the gold mirrored ceiling.

L’Autre Rives Guest House – Albi

L’Autre Rives is a peaceful haven nestling  within the town of Albi, boasting immaculate and inspired decor! As huge fans of design, the owners have lovingly refurbished a 1930s manor house and turned it into a guest house, combining antique elements with designer furniture including several Matière Grise pieces.

FGO-Barbara – Paris

FGO-Barbara is a cultural centre in Paris supporting the emerging music scene. This venue is home to a variety of spaces such as concert halls, rehearsal and recording studios, activity rooms and a bar. Built in the early 2000s on the outskirts of the very cosmopolitan La Goutte d’Or district, this venue was crying out for a facelift and for its spaces to be redesigned to suit more modern requirements, making them more modular in particular. This renovation project was led by the architect Clémence Torrente, running alongside the refurbishment of Les 3 Baudets, another Paris-based cultural venue.
The desire to install modular furniture with a sustainable approach meant that the Matière Grise collections were a natural choice. The Batchairs come in a cheerful range of bright colours, perfect for adding vibrant splashes that contrast with the black and white geometric floor and tables in the lobby.

Nowa office building – Paris

Constance Guisset’s challenge was to turn a Parisian private mansion into offices when renovating the Nowa building for Périal in 2021. Matière Grise provided some of the furniture – notably in the conservatory – with Ankara tables, Batchairs and marble nests of tables from the same collection. Bringing warmth to spaces by adding metal is the Matière Grise motto.

In a square shape created especially for this project, the Ankara tables team perfectly with the Batchairs to bring an inspiring yet relaxing feel to this conservatory.

L’Octopus – Geneva

Opened in early autumn 2020 in Geneva, the Octopus espouses Mediterranean culture and flavours. This inspiration is the common thread of the restaurant, from the decor, designed by Anne-Laure Ferry-Adam, to the food. Deep blue and gold set the tone, adding a modern touch to the existing elements such as the woodwork. The interior architect selected furniture from Matière Grise, on the one hand for the colour options that blend in perfectly with the decor, and on the other hand for the modularity of the collections: versions of the same table in different heights and indoor / outdoor versions, which makes for a great consistency of the whole, without a multiplicity of furniture ranges.

The Brass and Night colours of the Ankara pendant lights and high stools echo the golden patina of the bar, and the blue tones of the wallpaper and paint.

Zef high tables and Ankara high stools bring a contemporary feel to the more classic velvet benches, whose unusual height required suitable furniture.

On the terrace, the Zef tables and Batchair chairs, in the same colours as those inside the restaurant, are made of aluminum, to withstand exposure to bad weather.

Novotel Suite – The Hague

Thinking of a hotel as a house, that is the concept of this hotel chain staged by Constance Guisset. Offering open areas for sharing, making public places more informal, rounding off angles, softening lines, and embracing colour … And so choosing sturdy furniture, but nothing like standard community or conventional hotel chain furniture. The Ankara tables, designed by Constance Guisset and produced by Matière Grise, perfectly fulfill this function of household furniture for collective use. The Novotel Suites concept is present throughout Europe and Matière Grise fits out some of the hotels in the chain, such as here in The Hague, in the Netherlands.

The Punto Enel Boutique – Italy

Enel is the main producer of electrical energy in Italy, and also distributes other energies (water, gas). It has a network of shops, so it can offer a warm welcome and advice to its customers. Reflecting a world that is both highly technological but which must be accessible to everyone, the atmosphere of these shops is designed to reflect a workshop, where everyone can arrange their furniture as they wish. The high stools from the Hegoa collection are totally in keeping with the sought-after industrial / workshop style, with touches of colours to match the wall panels. While the high, straight legged Zef tables opt for the immaculate white of a laboratory.

Industry, technology and energy are reflected in the choice of furniture, reminiscent of both the workshop and the laboratory.

The fixings on the Hegoa high stools are left exposed like in a construction game. Made of galvanised steel, they are very stable and resistant.

The Zef high tables, here made with straight legs, are both strong and stable, for long-lasting use.

Ninkasi – Lyon

Unmissable in Lyon and its region, the Ninkasi brasseries, venues devoted to culture and brewing, first came into being in 1997. To begin with, there was only one venue where the brewing of beer, a restaurant and a concert hall were combined, in Lyon Gerland. From this historic location many other restaurants sprang up, all over the region. Matière Grise has fitted out all the new establishments open since 2014 with indoor and outdoor furniture, with the Ankara, Take and Zef collections. A special colour “Ninkasi Red”, emblematic of the brand, has been dedicated to the collections designed for fitting out these restaurants.

Around the bar, the Ankara bar stools with their oak seats blend in perfectly with the brasserie setting. On the terrace, the Take chairs, made from aluminium, are both lightweight and hardwearing, both in bad weather and under intensive use.

The Take bar chair, with its built in shelf, allows the space to be used for socialising, without overcrowding it with tables. Useful in places such as the Ninkasi chain, where there are many concerts!

The Alpha Media Library – Angoulême

Opened in 2015, the media library in Angoulême is more than a library, it’s a social hub. As well as its book collections, it contains CDs, DVDs and video games, a café, an auditorium and a garden. To match its very contemporary architecture of stacked blocks, furniture must be chosen whose design is equally contemporary, bold, colourful and hardwearing. The tables and benches from the Zef collection, in a sparkling chick yellow, are perfect in this demanding environment.
